Born in Lisbon of Angolan descent, Piny graduated in Architecture,

and a post-graduation in Scenography, both at the Lisbon school of Architecture

Afterwards, she completed a degree in Contemporary Dance in Lisbon.


In
1999, she began studying Raqs Sharqi and Raqs Baladi and since 2005 she dwells between the study of traditional dances of the SWANA region and a contemporary and conscious approach of their possible fusions with street and clubbing dance styles.

Since 2006 she has dedicated herself to Street Dance culture and Clubbing culture, through dance (Breakdance, House, Waacking, Vogue), Djing and graffiti.

In 2006, she founded the female breakdance crew ButterflieSoulFlow and,

in 2012

the Orchidaceae collective, home for fusion between between Street, clubbing and fusion bellydance vocabularies,

presenting their work and teaching across Europe, Asia and America.

In 2019 she co-founded Vogue PT Chapter, with Mother Nala Revlon, organizing events within the Ballroom community in Portugal.

In 2023, she created the project OU.kupa at Teatro do Bairro Alto, a festival-celebration centered on writing the history and giving space to artistic creation within street dance and clubbing in Portugal. Let’s open the box of decolonizing dance and the institution!

She also writes articles about dance. dance and politics. street and clubbing. peripheries and center.

Capoeira is a long time practice and love.

She finished a 2 year study on Yoga and Advaita Vedanta with Casa Ganapati. So now she can start the journey.

She continues to study and develop alternative ways of understanding the intersectionality of being and doing, through the study of astrology, tarot, yoga and non-Eurocentric philosophies.
