.G RITO
(premiere in 2022)
Synopsis
Our ancestry is in the future as much as in the present. In .G RITO we invite them all and we also claim our space in dense, intense, erotic, sisterly relationships. There is no linear time, or a concrete space, we float grounded in moveable roots. The geography is the geographies of our stories, of our great-grandmothers, grandmothers, mothers and our own, daughters of fictions that need to be rewritten, because whoever told them didn't have the truth, only the power. Our bodies are political, they celebrate, desire, rebel, love, protest. They are working bodies, violent bodies, poetic bodies, pleasure bodies.
We pray as we sing. This is such an old time that we have not yet found it ahead.
This work talks about intersections, struggles and a broad and crossed spectrum of references. We are 8 women who bring stories and bodies of a diverse and yet common ancestry, rescuing memories of a forgotten or erased past, as a central dimension in the construction of .G RITO. We have restored our Portuguese roots in the body of the women working in the fields, in the land, in the songs they sang while working, and we have created a universe where the voice leads the ritual, the machine intersects with the instrument played and bodies oscillate between veneration, abandonment, trance, pleasure and struggle. We go to our present movement vocabularies and celebrations, with Vogue, House dance, Breakdance, Krump and we create a new fiction of history.

Sinopse
